Former Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Attends Washington Redskins Training Camp
By Matthew Laux
Why is former Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips at Washington Redskins training camp? This question has been asked over and over again by many Redskins fans across the answer actually resides within the organization. In January, Washington hired Wade’s son Wes to become the team’s tight ends coach. The younger Phillips grew up around the game of football watching his father attain his ultimate dream of becoming the head coach of America’s team. In the meanwhile, Wes made a name for himself as well moving up the chain of command within the Dallas Cowboys after spending four years with the organization.
Finally, this off-season Wes was hired by the Redskins to the same position and it was his father who originally broke the news deeming it a “great hire.” Today, the elder Phillips has continued to make his presence known while attending the Redskins training camp claiming it was “sons take their father to work day.” He even went on to exclaim, “I’m obviously a big Redskins fan now.” Too many, this may be a big surprise, but fans cannot overlook Wade’s claim that he’s “impressed with their personnel here.”
After five years with the Dallas Cowboys, Wade Phillips must have noticed something to shift his support to the Washington Redskins.
