NBA Trade Rumors: Greg Monroe to Washington?
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports
Greg Monroe is on the block. Young big men with his range don’t come around every day, especially with his potential. The Pistons PF has seen a decline in production since the addition of Brandon Jennings and Josh Smith in the offseason. Smith and Andre Drummond make for a crowded front court and it seems that Monroe is the odd man out.
Washington is always looking to get younger, trying to put together pieces to keep John Wall happy when that contract expires and make Washington more desirable to superstars. Most recently Wall has been recruiting Kevin Durant to return to his native DC in 2016 when his contract with the Thunder expires. A little early to think I agree, but this team is building for the future, not to win now.
Monroe would give the Wizards added depth down low, and Nene is not a long term solution at the four with his lingering issues across his career. The Pistons are surely shopping him around, and the Wizards should definitely be listening.
