The Burning Question Surrounding Jay Gruden

facebooktwitterreddit

Last Tuesday, former quarterback Phil Simms discussed how a quarterback can influence the way an organization may function.  Washington Redskins fans know all too well about how Robert Griffin III influenced owner Daniel Snyder and his decision to retain former head coach Mike Shanahan.  Now, after the hiring of Jay Gruden, fans must wonder how the pair will interact in Gruden’s first year as an NFL head coach.  It will be Gruden’s duty to groom RG3 back into his rookie season form.  Gruden expressed his high expectations of Griffin III in his opening press conference and will soon see how his offense will fit the third year player.

The question surrounding Gruden stems from the 2012 draft.  The former Bengals offensive coordinator selected Andy Dalton over Collin Kaepernick.  He felt that Dalton was better suited for his offense and drafted accordingly.  RG3 on the other hand is more similar to Kaepernick than Dalton, and I wonder how Gruden will mold his offensive structure around Griffin III?
