RG3 aims to draw sideline penalties
By Matthew Laux
Over the course of his first year and a half in the NFL, quarterback Robert Griffin III has made it clear he likes to run the football. Whether it’s eluding defenders in the pocket or taking off for a first down, RG3 uses his legs to his advantage. What’s also become clear is the defenders love trying to crush Griffin III, and he now knows it.

RG3 admitted to the media Wednesday that he’s aware defenders want to lay the final blow on the second year quarterback, and he’s going to use this aggressiveness to his benefit. RG3 said he’s not afraid to attempt to draw penalties as he scampers out of bounds on running plays to tack on an additional 15 yards. Griffin, who drew two unnecessary roughness penalties, said this tactic, however, was not employed during Sunday night’s defeat at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys. With several weeks left to play, this strategy may come more into effect as Griffin III’s knee becomes healthier, and is subsequently more inclined to run.
