Nats, O’s begin crucial stretch
By Matthew Laux
Today, the Washington Nationals will take on the Atlanta Braves beginning a double header at 1 P.M. All fans are encouraged to Blue and Gold in support of the Navy Yard victims from yesterday’s shooting. The first game will be a make from yesterday’s postponement, and should be a dandy as the Nationals take aim at the last wild card berth. The Cincinnati Reds currently hold a five game lead, and will continue their three game set with the lonely Houston Astros.
On the American League side, the cross-town rival, Baltimore Orioles, sit just two games behind the Texas Rangers in hopes of making a return trip to the post season. Tonight, the Orioles will begin a series with the Boston Red Sox followed by a crucial four game set against the Tampa Bay Rays, who hold just a two and a half game over the O’s.
With only 13 games remaining, both the Nationals and Orioles share the same record (79-70), and both teams hope to take the leap into October.
