NFL.com’s Jason La Confora reports that quarterback Pat White is scheduled to visit the Redskins on Wednesday, and is “very likely” to sign with the team.
The fact that White cancelled his scheduled visit with the division-rival New York Giants is a good indicator of White’s chances to sign with the Redskins. White would provide the Redskins with a backup for Robert Griffin III that is also capable of running the option. In all likelihood current backup Kirk Cousins will remain the second-string option, though Cousins is more of a pocket passer.
White previously played with the Miami Dolphins in 2009, and has also tried his hand at minor-league baseball. White also worked out for the 49ers two weeks ago. The 27-year old would join an offense that runs a similar scheme to what he ran in his college days at West Virginia.
