Selig later reported that Goins was charged with obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct. He was released on $2,500 unsecure bond, and police say he was cooperative. According to Selig, police arrested Goins at a team party that apparently got out of hand.

The James Madison Athletic Department released a statement on the matter late on Saturday night, stating that “The athletic administration is aware of the situation. We will not be providing any additional comments until we review this matter in the morning.”

James Madison was given a 16th-seed play-in game when the tournament seedings were announced on Sunday evening. The Dukes clinched their first tournament berth since 1994 last Monday, upsetting the top-seeded Northeastern Huskies 70-57 in the CAA Tournament Championship. They will face LIU Brooklyn in Round 1 at 6:40 PM EST on Wednesday for the right to face the top-seeded Indiana Hoosiers on Thursday. Any disciplinary action taken by the school against Goins would only hurt the Dukes’ chances, as he has averaged 12.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Should Goins miss time, A.J. Davis (12.1 PPG) and Devon Moore (11.6 PPG) will really need to step up in his absence.
