Defensive Back Watch: Rodgers-Cromartie, Landry Find New Homes
The Redskins continue to look for both a safety and a cornerback as free agency rolls along, and yesterday the market got a little bit thinner at both positions. Here’s an update on a few of yesterday’s transactions around the league involving defensive backs.

Free agents Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (formerly of the Eagles) and LaRon Landry (formerly of the Jets) have signed deals with the Broncos and Colts, respectively.
Rodgers-Cromartie will earn $4-million on 1-year deal with Denver, as the Broncos look to tap into the potenial he showed in his days in Arizona. While I projected him to get a much more modest contract due to his performance in 2012 and the never-ending pool of free agent talent this offseason, the Broncos obviously must believe in the upside of Rodgers-Cromartie.
Landry, a former Redskin, cashed in on the solid season (all 16 games played, 100 tackles, six takeaways via Grant Paulsen) with the New York Jets signing a 4-year deal. The contract will pay Landry $6-million per season, and will guarentee him $14-million (via Ian Rapaport). The Colts will now pray that Landry brings the durability he had last season, as to the oft-injured habit he had during his time as a Redskin.
While more players are starting to sign as agents have time to negotiate with general managers, other options also became available yesterday that could peak the Redskins’ interest. More on that later.
