Update: Honolulu police are saying that Trent Williams was the “victim of an assault” at a nightclub. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Williams was hit in the head with a champagne bottle (an injury that required stitches) and also Tasered by the assaulters.
Though Williams is out for the Pro Bowl, the NFL says that we will be on the sidelines wearing his uniform and will be credited with the Pro Bowl appearance. Williams will also get a full players’-share of profits.
It’s never great news when champagne bottles and tasers mix. But on the upside, it’s a relief that Williams did not actually instigate this fight as many assumed after his altercation with Seahawks corner Richard Sherman in the NFC Wild Card game earlier this month. He’s an innocent victim, and hopefully, he’s ok.
