With the constant buzz of NFL Free agency ringing in the ears of Washington area sports fans, the re-signing of defenseman Dmitry Orlov may be the most impactful of the bunch.  Orlov signed a 2-year deal worth $4 million to prevent him from becoming an unrestricted free agent this off-season.  The 22-year old has his best years in front of him and will continue to improve after playing on the second line with Mike Green.

In 38 games, Orlov has 3 goals and 6 assists while giving up 19 penalty minutes.  The third year pro would have been one of four potential unrestricted free agents the Washington Capitals would try and resign during the off-season.

After being swept in a home and home series with the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Capitals will continue their push for the post-season tomorrow against the Vancover Canucks.
