Newsflash: Washington Nationals’ Bryce Harper is huge. With spring training now in full force, Harper has returned to Viera, Florida and he’s said to have gained 25 pounds. Formerly listed at 205 on the depth chart, the third year player has gained muscle mass in order to help the Nationals return to the playoffs. After such an extreme weight gain, players and fans alike are going to begin the steroid talks surrounding Harper. Fair or unfair, the question will begin to surface around the league, but even he isn’t worried after being seen with “PED free” t-shirt over the summer.
An important point to note is the Washington slugger is just 21- years old so he’s now in his prime as far as body growth and development. Fans shouldn’t worry about Harper as his religion, work ethic, and attitude all make it difficult to anticipate Harper juicing.
I hope the rumors are smashed as quickly as possible and Harper flourishes in what appears to be his best season yet. The Nats will need as much of Harper’s help as possible if they hope of topping the talented Atlanta Braves team. Harper’s increased work out regime is very impressive, and if you haven’t seen him already check out Bryce Harper.
