Georgetown’s Whittington dismissed from team

Heading into the 2013-14 Georgetown University Men’s Basketball season Greg Whittington was expected to be the top candidate to replace star Otto Porter Jr..  After suffering a torn ACL this past summer, clearly this was not to be for Whittington.  Still the junior guard began a long rehabilitation process and appeared to be ahead of schedule to return.   It appears, however, that Whittington did not maintain focus on the reason why he’s at Georgetown, to learn, and was dismissed from the team Saturday.

Georgetown is currently 3-2 on the season, and has been led by the dynamic backcourt duo of Markel Starks and D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera.  Georgetown will next take the court Thursday after dispatching Lipscomb easily today by a 70-49 score.

It is unclear whether Whittington will attempt to transfer to another university or decide to take the leap into his professional basketball career.
