The Washington Redskins announced today that they have come to terms with linebacker Nick Barnett.  Barnett, 32, was signed to a one-year contract just a day after the Redskins put him through an extensive workout.  Barnett will provide depth behind starters London Fletcher and Perry Riley and is expected to be a top linebacker reserve.

Nick was signed in order to replace the injured Keenan Robinson, who tore his pectoral muscle a few weeks ago.   Barnett led the Buffalo Bills in tackles just a season ago, however, has not received much interest around the league.   Barnett is a savy veteran and should be a great fit in Jim Hasslet’s 3-4 defense.  Nick Barnett is a steal for the Washington squad that was very thin prior to Robinson’s injury.  Meanwhile, Washington continues training camp today in Richmond with fan appreciation day to be celebrated Saturday, August 3rd.
