The Detroit Lions signed Reggie Bush to a four-year contract this afternoon, meaning that the Cardinals, Bengals and Redskins will all have to look elsewhere.

While Bush is a solid player and would’ve brought a new dimension to the Redskins offense, he ultimately signed for roughly $4-million per season, and as Mike Jones of the Washington Post writes, the Redskins remain up against the cap despite the moves they’ve made. Washington has plenty of holes to fill, namely safety, corner and offensive line, so they can’t go spending multiple millions of dollars on someone that won’t even be starting.

If the Redskins really want a change-of-pace running back, as they should, the smart move would be adding one in the later rounds of the NFL Draft in April.
