Steve Oleksy To Make Team Debut As Capitals Host Bruins

The Capitals recalled defenseman Steve Oleksy from AHL Hershey. Oleksy signed a three-year, two-way contract with Washington on Monday, and is also projected to be in the lineup. The scrappy defenseman, who’s spent the last four seasons in the minors, has had a very unorthodox path to the big leagues.

Oleksy, who originally went undrafted, has spent more time in the low minors in his career (135 games) than AHL (122). He logged a career high in AHL games this season prior to being called up, logging 55 games with Hershey.

The Capitals will look to make both players’ Capitals debuts special as they try and stay hot tonight against the Bruins. Washington has won six of its last nine games, the hottest such stretch of the season for the Capitals, and a win tonight will put them just two games from .500.

Local markets can view the game on Comcast Sportsnet, and puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM EST.
