ESPN’s Mike Fish and T.J. Quinn report that Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez did not receive PEDs from the Miami clinic, Biogenesis. Gonzalez had been adamant in denying the report for some time, and this report finally gives an unbiased source to back his claims. Fish was not so kind to players on other teams, citing Everth Cabrera of the Padres, Jordan Norberto of the Oakland A’s, Fernando Martinez of the Houston Astros, Fautino De Los Santos of the Padres and Cesar Puello of the Mets as players who did receive PEDs from Biogenesis.

This news could not come at a better time (other than, well, when the initial report came out) for Gonzalez and the Nationals. The Nats can finally get their rotation set, and therefore get their bullpen set since they won’t have to stretch out Zach Duke or Christian Garcia to potentially cover for Gonzalez. Preseason controversy has been lifted from the Nationals and their 21-game winner, and we can remove the skepticism from our minds.
